Aldea Infantil SOS Valle de Ángeles


The project works with a number of annexed institutions, where its children and youths are prepared for independent life. Some types of these institutions are:
• Youth institutions
• Kindergartens
• Schools
• Formation and qualification centres
• Social centres
• Medical centres
• Emergency help programs
The children are given responsibilities as helping with the house duties, and also
once a week they go out to another social project to do sports.
The “Aldea Infantil SOS Valle de Ángeles” is unique because all the children that live there have some kind of disability; this is the only SOS Children’s Villlage in the world that hosts children with special needs (except one SOSChildren’s Village in Mexico, which hosts 50% children with special needs). In this protected environment, any kind of volunteer help is welcomed, and he/she can truly become part of the daily life in the village.

VOLUNTEER’S TASKS:
The volunteer could participate in any of the activities carried out in the “Aldea
Infantil SOS Valle de Ángeles”. He/she could help in:
• Giving support to the educators in house duties.
• Teaching subjects like art, sports, drama, etc.
• Accompanying the children to walks and visits.
• Helping the trainers with physical rehabilitation; he/she will be trained and
accompanied by a professional trainer.
• Organizing any kind of activity to spend time with the children.

He/she would have the opportunity to develop a personal project within the range of activities carried out by the organization, which would be a means to enrich him/her and every person involved in the project.

COMMUNITY CONTEXT:
The “Aldea Infantil SOS Valle de Ángeles” is located approximately 5 minutes by car from the town of Valle de Ángeles, in the central region of Francisco Morazán.

Valle de Ángeles is a picturesque town that has become a favourite weekend escape for the inhabitants of Tegucigalpa. Its proximity, only 30 km., and the good highway connecting it to the capital, has made it popular with foreigners,many of whom have become established in the area. During the week, Valle de Ángeles is a quiet place with few visitors; however it is teeming with action during the weekends.

Within the town, there is an arts and crafts display area, consisting of several large halls. There, you can see a vast selection of Honduran-made handicrafts,many of which are made right there in Valle de Ángeles.

我今年跟山真的很有緣!自從退伍後被小姑帶去阿里山以後，接著就去玉山國家公園工作。現在連在宏國的服務單位都在海拔1300公尺的地方。原本，在我申請的wp中其實是沒填到這個工作單位，我第一志願選在首都 : 德古斯加巴 西語: Tegucigalpa，另外兩志願都是選在北邊靠加勒比海的地方，但是我的志願卻都落榜。宏國又幫我搭配了另一個也在北邊加勒比海的小漁村，而且也沒有寄宿家庭，查過google map還有其他資料，那裡還比阿公住的宜蘭壯圍更純樸鄉下，當我心中暗自想像以後一年都在小漁村的畫面，結果宏國又來消息要換另一個地方了，於是原本期待在海邊的我，又被換到山上了，今年真是我的山之年阿。
